IBM PartnerWorld Beacon Awards Presented at Gala Event

The IBM PartnerWorld Beacon Awards were presented to twenty-eight IBM Business Partners during a gala cocktail reception and awards ceremony at The Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel and Convention Center in Las Vegas. The ceremony took place during IBM’s annual PartnerWorld Conference, the largest gathering of IBM Business Partners in the world.

Honored for their outstanding achievements in e-business, winners and finalists came from all over the globe to receive their hand-cut crystal award before an audience of fellow Business Partners, journalists, IT analysts and IBM executives. Mike Borman, general manager, IBM Global Business Partners, and Angelica Horaitis vice president, Global Channels Marketing, presented the 25 awards judged by press, analysts and IBM executives, as well as the three Blue Diamond Beacon Awards

When the UK's Total Security Protection Ltd needed a more reliable PC solution that was less costly to maintain, Axia Computer Systems responded with IBM Personal Computers featuring Rapid Restore technology. Total Security Protection, which provides closed circuit TV systems, was using cloned PCs and servers that drove high support costs when systems went down due to weather conditions or corrupt operating systems and applications. Axia's ThinkVantage solution significantly reduced the customer's IT support costs, increased backup protection via IBM Rapid Restore' one-button recovery of software and client data, and reduced downtime.

Judges described this as an excellent real-world example of using ThinkVantage Technologies to mitigate a real customer problem that is causing significant business disruption.
